– Chicago Bears Tight End Greg Olsen on Jay Cutler’s game against the Seahawks.  Cutler’s 15/28 game.  For 274 yards (2 TDs) plus 43 rushing (2 TDs).  In which, from the highlights I saw, a substantial portion of the yardage came after the catch.  In which he had a ridiculous...

The home theater PC is dead, long live Windows... →
I wish Microsoft would take this two steps further: First: Relaunch Windows TV as a standalone, Microsoft-branded product.  Still go the embedded route, but make the set-top boxes too.  Use the iPhone as a model for how to launch a disruptive consumer product in a seemingly mature segment (i.e., people already have set-top boxes, just like people already had phones) where an oligopoly of channel...

The scene: Fall 2011, Candlestick Park, midfield
The 49ers have just trounced the Seahawks.  Up 34-10 with 1:43 left in the fourth quarter, San Francisco went for it on 4th and 2 from Seattle’s 42 yard line.  Frank Gore rumbled over left tackle and broke into the secondary for a 34 yard gain that set up one last touchdown as time expired.  Final score: 49ers 41, Seahawks 10. The coaches have jogged out to shake hands, with the usual mix...

U.S. Orders Biggest Military Cuts Since Before... →
It’s a good start! Preemptive note to (most) Republicans and (many/most) Tea Partiers: it’s dumb enough when you claim to be deficit hawks while clamoring for tax cuts; don’t be a total ass and repeat it with military spending.

The New House Majority and the Constitution:... →
If the Members actually listen, they may notice that the document they are hearing is nationalistic, not state-oriented; concerned with giving Congress power, not taking it away; forward-looking, not nostalgic for the past; aimed creating a new government that can solve new problems, not freezing in place an old one that must fold its hands while the nation declines. Of course, others may...
